The 2026 MICHELIN Key Hotels: Chile

Michelin has long been the benchmark for exceptional dining. Now, it’s turning the spotlight on hotels, recognising the places that make a stay memorable for reasons beyond comfort alone.

The MICHELIN Keys celebrate hotels with a clear sense of identity, thoughtful design, attentive service & a strong connection to their surroundings. From the atmosphere they create to the details that shape a guest’s experience, each property offers something that sets it apart.

We’re proud to work with all of the hotels recognised in Chile. Read on for the full list, plus our take on what makes each stay worth knowing.

Awasi Atacama

Small, intimate and beautifully designed, with architecture inspired by traditional Atacameño dwellings. Circular stone-and-wood suites surround a quiet courtyard, each with a private patio and outdoor shower. Stay in town but enjoy the privacy of your own suite and guide, with a team that gets every detail right. There are no sweeping desert views here, but the service, food and sense of intimacy more than make up for it.

Tierra Atacama Hotel & Spa

Tierra Atacama has some of the best views in Atacama, with Licancabur on the horizon and a design that feels genuinely connected to its surroundings. The recent refurbishment has added four new suites with private plunge pools, and dedicated guides and vehicles. We particularly love the pool and spa, sunset drinks at the terrace fire pits, and the wonderful team of guides. Its sustainability credentials also stand out, including one of the largest solar panel courtyards at a hotel.

Explora Atacama

A great choice for travellers who want to really explore the Atacama, just outside San Pedro with uninterrupted views of Licancabur. The real strength is what happens beyond the lodge, with more than 40 guided explorations on foot, by bike and horseback. Its own horses and excellent e-bikes make it easy to venture further afield.

Nayara Alto Atacama

One of the most immersive desert stays in Atacama, tucked into the Cordillera de la Sal outside San Pedro and surrounded by native gardens, dramatic desert colours and Andean-inspired architecture. The refurbished rooms are spacious, with private terraces, a series of pools, a spa and resident llamas that make the hotel feel like a destination in its own right. Make time for stargazing, and choose it for a slower Atacama experience that balances excursions with plenty of time to relax.

CasaMolle

A lush retreat in the remarkably verdant Elqui Valley, surrounded by gardens and greenery and designed entirely around relaxation. Come for the generous meals, long afternoons by the pools, spa treatments and yoga, then stay up for some of Chile’s finest stargazing beneath the valley’s exceptionally dark skies. A short flight from Santiago, it can also connect directly with the Atacama Desert or add nearby experiences such as penguin and whale watching.

Hotel Magnolia

Beautifully designed within a restored 1929 heritage building, this is our favourite boutique property in Santiago with individually styled rooms that retain details such as original stained glass and fine woodwork. The rooftop is a real highlight, with views towards Cerro Santa Lucía, and the service is excellent. They’ve also added a new restaurant, DeMo, which brings a more ambitious dining option to the hotel.

Mandarin Oriental Santiago

Our favourite traditional luxury property in Santiago. It’s a large hotel, so not for everyone, but the lagoon-style pool, expansive gardens and views towards the Andes give it an unexpected oasis feel in the middle of the city’s financial and commercial district. The breakfast is excellent, and the service is top-notch.

Hotel Casa Real – Viña Santa Rita

A beautiful late-19th-century estate and Historic Monument, and a great place to slow down at the end of a trip. Home to one of Chile’s oldest wineries, it combines beautiful gardens and parkland with spacious suites, a collection of pre-Columbian art, a chapel and Roman baths. There’s also a beautiful pool and plenty of time to enjoy the estate’s wines, making it a good fit for travellers who appreciate history as much as wine.

VIK Chile

Part wine estate, part living art gallery, VIK is one of those places where there’s something unexpected around every corner. The copper-roofed main building is striking, while each room and suite has been individually designed by a different Chilean artist, making no two spaces alike. It’s a particularly good option for families, with no age restrictions and plenty to do beyond the wine — from the spa and pools to horseback riding, hiking and biking. Stay for a few nights at the end of a trip and give yourself time to enjoy the food, wine and art.
